Italian mopeds are taking their share of the market. Since World War II, mopeds like the Vespa have transported soldiers, Hollywood stars and ordinary citizens alike. They are stylish, for sure, but these mopeds are also popular due to their durability. During the energy crisis of the 1970's, mopeds helped daily commuters stretch their fuel dollars getting to work, school and other necessary places. Now, in the new millennium, fuel prices are a major factor in commuters' purchases once more. Piaggio and other Italian models are also popular in the U.S. and in Europe.
